A Heart of Worship
O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before Him all the earth.
Psalm 96:9Praise and worship has nothing to do with how good our voices are or how high we can raise our hands. Praise and worship comes from the heart. Websters Dictionary has a beautiful definition for the act of worship, "to honour with extravagant love and extreme submission." Selah. Ponder on this for a moment. Because when you worship God it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with God. Worshipping God comes from a heart of extreme submission; when you surrender to the goodness and the beauty of the Lord.
"O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." When Solomon dedicated the temple to God, the children of God invited God into their presence with songs of praise. But when the temple was filled with the presence of God, the Bible says, "And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD."
When it comes to worship, the focus is God. Focus on nothing else during your worship time with God. Do not focus on your problems, on your children, on the food burning on the stove; you need to be in an environment of holiness, where God will be most welcome to show His glory.
Jesus said to the Samaritan woman, "Believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him."
When it comes to worship, all God wants is YOU and the right heart attitude. Remember that worship comes from a heart of surrender and extreme submission to God.
