Who we are
Strength in the Word (strengthintheword.com) is a Bible study application operated by Reborn Group. We can be contacted at privacy@strengthintheword.com.
What information we collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate your account.
Information you provide directly:
- Your email address (used to verify your account and allow password recovery)
- Your display name and username (optional, used for identification within the app)
- Your personal study content — verse notes, word notes, glossary entries, sermon notes, series, timeline events, and reading plan progress that you create while using the app
Information collected automatically:
- Basic usage information when you submit feedback (your browser type, screen size, and the page you were on when you submitted feedback)
- Standard server logs (IP addresses, page requests) retained for a short period for security purposes
What we do not collect
We do not collect payment information. We do not run advertising. We do not track your behaviour across other websites. We do not use analytics services that share your data with third parties.
How we use your information
Your email address is used only to:
- Verify that you own the email address you registered with
- Send you a password reset link if you request one
- Contact you about significant changes to the service (rarely, if ever)
Your study content (notes, glossary, sermons, timeline) is used only to display it back to you. It is never read by us for any other purpose, shared with anyone, or used to train AI models.
How we protect your information
Your email address is stored encrypted in our database using AES-256-GCM encryption. The encryption key is stored separately in AWS Secrets Manager and is never stored alongside your data.
Your password is hashed using bcrypt before storage. We never store your password in readable form.
All connections to this application are encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes.
We use the following services to operate the app, each of which may process limited technical data:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — our hosting infrastructure and email sending service (Amazon SES). AWS is bound by its own privacy terms. Your personal data remains in AWS infrastructure located in the United States (us-east-1 region).
Your rights (POPIA and general)
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information (via your Preferences page)
- Delete your account and associated data — contact us at
privacy@strengthintheword.comand we will action this within 30 days - Object to processing of your data
South African users: this application is operated in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Please contact our offices at privacy@strengthintheword.com for any POPIA-related queries.
Data retention
We retain your account and study content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Server logs are retained for a maximum of 90 days.
Children
This application is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will notify registered users via email before the change takes effect. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
