The Power of Praise
For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
Psalm 47:7Do you believe that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen? In the middle of a trial can you still envision the end? Do you see yourself getting the victory? Can you praise God amongst your trials and tribulations or after a rough day at work?
Praise comes from a heart of joy and thanksgiving. Did you ever feel a calmness over your life during a storm or an assurance of joy when everything is in turmoil? What did you do? You praised God. Your heart is joyful and you sing praises to Him.
Worship is more reverent and comes from a heart of humility and surrender. We praise God for what He has done; we worship God for who He is. Praise happens when you are thankful to God for what He has done or is doing in your life. And praise, I have learnt, is a mighty weapon.
When the walls of Jericho had to fall, Joshua and the Israelite children sounded their trumpets — they praised God. Do you want walls in your life to come down? Then praise God. When Paul and Silas were in prison they praised God. And the result? God sent an earthquake to rescue them. Do you need an earthquake in your life to set you free? Then praise God.
We do not need fancy instruments, loud music, or a certain place to praise God. Sing songs of praise at work and see the difference in your day. Watch how God transforms your work environment; how He strengthens your heart and uplifts you.
Finally, the Bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people. This means that darkness has to flee where the Light dwells. Do you want God in your workplace or in your home? Praise God in these areas. Praise is an outward manifestation of the completed work in your life ... its faith in practice. Its saying, "Lord, I don't see the victory, but thanks that it is secured already." Amen.
