Running With Footmen

If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses?

Jeremiah 12:5

If thou hast run with footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? If we are complaining about the state of our lives now, and if we cannot get victory over what we are experiencing now, how are we going to fight when possibly worst trials and tribulations come?

You might find yourself running with footmen or you may even be contending against horses currently. Consider these lessons from the story of Joshua:

1. Do not murmur against the LORD. When you are facing trials and tribulations, and the mighty hand of God is before you, humble yourself and allow God to complete the work in your life.

2. Know that Gods presence is with you always. If a generation of Israelites could cross over a river and tear down the walls of Jericho, know that there is no footman or horse in your life that God cannot tear down for you.

3. Get a strategy and direction from God. The Israelites followed the Ark of the Covenant, which represented the presence of God. They waited for God to go before them. Have patience and wait on the LORD for a strategy to overcoming the footmen and horses in your life.

4. Trust in the LORDs way of bringing victory to your life. Dancing around a wall sounds absurd; so does dipping yourself in a dirty river to be healed. Our way of doing something might not be the way God overcomes battles in our lives. Trust God to give you the victory His way.

5. Praise God throughout the storm. Do not panic. You cannot praise God when you are in a frantic state of mind. Relax; ask God to fill you with His peace, and ask Him to strengthen your faith through the storm.
