Consider the Ant

Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: which having no guide, overseer or ruler, provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

Proverbs 6:6 to 8

Consider the ways of the ant; a tiny insect that can carry many times its own weight; a little insect that can put fear into an elephant. An ant is never lazy; you always see them scurrying around gathering food, preparing their stock for the winter.

What is the big difference between a lazy man and a hard-working man? A hard-working man takes responsibility for his life. The sluggard sits around, waits for others to feed him and clothe him. They are not willing to get out of their last state and earn their keep. Lazy men are irresponsible men. They dwell in their pity and expect people to feel sorry for them.

How responsible are you in your life? Do you sit back and wait for others to do your work? Or are you hard-working and diligent? Do you know that, at the end of the day, you have earned every cent that your employer pays you?

At home, how responsible are you? Do you spend time with your children and with your spouse? Or do you make excuses and laze around? It is so easy to sleep a few minutes later and miss prayer time in the morning or not go to prayer meeting in the evening because it is too cold. Be responsible. Endeavour to make a difference. And persevere.

The ant has one mission ... gather food. When it comes to the mountain it pushes on. When it faces adversity it pushes on. Likewise, in all that you do, be responsible and hard-working.

"Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: so shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man." Today, determine in your heart that you will not fold your hands but you will give your best to make a difference around you. When you take responsibility for what you have, God takes what you have and multiplies it. But you must make the first move; be responsible with what you have.
