An Empty House
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return to my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there.
Matthew 12:43 to 45A lot of believers today receive a miracle but battle retaining the miracle. They receive a financial breakthrough but a few weeks later they find themselves in the same desperate situation again. A woman receives healing one day but a few weeks later her state suddenly worsens? What went wrong?
Todays verse offers you a key to retaining your victory over the works of the enemy. Most problems today can be traced to a problem in the spiritual realm; that is why Paul exclaimed that our warfare is a spiritual one — we have to secure victory in the spiritual first before it is manifest in the flesh.
But you need to retain your victory. You cannot afford to leave a delivered area free; the house cannot be kept swept, garnished and empty. You need to fill your life with the Word of God; you need to pray more fervently; you need to do whatever God tells you to do to keep your victory a testimony.
I want to conclude on this point — demons talk about "my house." Demons think that they have a legal right over your life; an open door with a huge entrance mat. When you hear the victory resounding in your camp, you need to ensure that the camp is closed to the enemy.
Do not so much as even leave a crack in the door for the enemy to get in. When you are locked out of your house you will do whatever it takes to get in. The same with demons. Make sure that your house is full of the glory of the Lord. Demons tremble when they see Jesus at the gate of your life.
